Development of a coastal town (1995-2025)

The two maps depict the changes that took place in the coastal town of Seaview over a thirty-year period between 1995 and 2025.

Overall, Seaview was transformed from a small, largely undeveloped settlement into a busy tourist destination. The most striking developments were the replacement of farmland with hotels and the construction of new transport and leisure facilities along the coast.

In 1995, the town consisted of a small residential area in the north, connected to the seafront by a single road. To the west lay a large expanse of farmland, while the eastern side was occupied by woodland, and the beach itself remained untouched.

By 2025, the farmland had been cleared to make way for a cluster of hotels, and a car park was added nearby to accommodate visitors. The single road had been widened and extended into a network serving the enlarged residential zone. Meanwhile, part of the woodland was replaced by a marina, and a pier had been built out from the previously empty beach, reflecting the town's shift towards tourism.
